One of the core commitments in Impact Producing is giving back to the community. We spend a lot of time on this part, trying to ensure that our productions are not only dynamic context and engaging in content, but that we also take the time to always give more than we take from a place.
For the Congo Tales project we are very excited to hold our original exhibitions in the place from which they came so that the children and adults who have shared their lives with us will be honored first and foremost by the work before it is ever shown to a wider audience. To make certain that this important dream become a reality, we have had to think long and hard about printing.
In order to take back durable prints of the pictures to Mbomo and Brazzaville we have decided to work with a special glass technique. To facilitate this goal we will be partnering up with a Berlin based company glass printing company called Glasstrix.
Glasstrix’s owner Eric specializes in UV direct substrate glass printing. This high quality method is especially primed for art and photography prints as a result of its superior picture quality through deep contrasts, defined focus and layering effects. Eric Frank, the company’s owner has been testing the best way for us to showcase the dynamic nature of the amazing photos from our project.
Thanks to this partnership, the stories of Mbomo will travel back to Mbomo in brilliant color!
We can’t wait for our upcoming journey back to the Congo Basin. This time we will be bringing back the results of the pictures, short film and written stories. We are currently in the process of organizing a very special exhibition in Mbomo, and in the capital Brazzaville. We’re also very excited to hand out a special edition of the story book to the entire community that worked with us on this project.
We are also very proud to be working with Mr. Miabeto from the CIREK. His organization advocates for the upkeep of oral traditions in Congo. He’s been an advisor for our project, and in return Tales of Us will keep supporting the future initiatives of the CIREK wherever and however it can. We look very forward to seeing just exactly how this collaboration will take flight in the future.
